Papai Saha murder case: Prime accused Shaheb Miya acquitted
TIWN

AGARTALA, May 18 (TIWN): Tripura lower court on Wednesday acquitted Shaheb Miya from all the charges over his involvement in the Papai Saha murder case.

After the hearing the case on Wednesday, the prime accused  Shaheb Miya was acquitted for his involvement in the Papai saha murder case. Papai Saha was shot dead on July 11 last during a protest rally of the Congress in Agartala. The youth was allegedly killed by TSR jawans.

It is to be mentioned here that at least one man was killed and 41 people, including 15 policemen, were injured in a clash between police and Congress workers who were protesting against the baton-charge on party activists.

‘The clashes between the Congress leaders and workers and security forces started when the former attacked the West Kotowali police station.  At least 52 congress protestors including women injured on police lathi charge during the congress civil disobedience movement against the massive corruption in Tripura. Beside Opposition leader Sudip Roy Barman, Youth Congress President Sushanta Chowdhury, TPCC working president Ashish Kumar Saha along with other leaders sustained injury on lathi charge.

The police forces were found charging lathis brutally on the congress leaders and acting enough as a barrier to the congress civil disobedience movement. The congress protestors were stopped by the police forces to move to the CM’s residence. And this has now raised a big question over the brutal torture of the police on the congress civil disobedience movement.

Police also opened fire in the air and resorted to a baton-charge to disperse the mob. ‘A body of a youth, appearing to be in his late 20s, was found later.  Papai Saha was a party supporter killed in police firing. Congress agitators also set afire five police vehicles parked in front of the West Kotowali police station, the state capital’s main police post.
