KAMALPUR, May 17 (TIWN): The Halhali-Fatikroy NEC road turned into a dreadful experience to the commuters due to the shattered and broken road. Mainly the parts under the Kumarghat division of PWD(R&B) at Demdum area became completely shattered.

The condition of the much important NEC road never remained a happy experience to the commuters. The roads remained broken and dreadful almost throughout the year. And it became worse in turn due to the reluctance and negligence of the two divisions of PWD(R&B) which got bestowed with the responsibility.

After much ado and extensive media coverage, the part under Kamalpur division got some kind of movable. But the part under the Kumarghat division turned into a den of painful experience.

The road at Demdum area for a length of approximate 10 kilometres got shattered completely. The rain water gushing down from the roadside highlands created gullies on the road. Besides, pot holes and broken sides remained a common trait. Some local youths expressed that, the division used to continue their maintenance works throughout the year.

But the contractors turned the works into chances of random loot. Low quality work made it sure that, the maintenance works would not last even for two months. And then once again the same contractors got the works. And during the work no official from the division remained present on the work site.

As a result, the commuters used to experience a dreadful and painful journey. Still due to time consumable short distance, the road remained to be a happy choice for the vehicles as well as for the passengers. And the government and its department remained reluctant to remedy the problem permanently.
