AGARTALA, May 17 (TIWN): Even after months have passed, FIR has been lodged against the accused doctor’s in allegations of embezzlement of cores of fund under NHM; Tripura police is yet stuck with the namesake investigation. Talking to TIWN correspondent, present District Magistrate of North Dr. Sandeep Mahatme on Tuesday said that yet there is no update from the police regarding the investigation. It seems loopholes in the police investigation is yet successful in saving the prime accused involved in the NHM scam worth an amount of Rs 33 crores of fund. It is to be mentioned here that according to the revealed audit report of India had sanctioned Rs 33 crore under NHM in the past seven years, of which records are available for expenditure of Rs 6 crore. National Health Mission (NHM) scam at Unakoti District has brought an embarrassment for the Tripura Left front govt. once again. With the filing of FIR against 17 health officials, a new set of curious questions are in the air which deserves persuasive response.It is to be mentioned here that NHM Mission Director Dr. Sandeep N Mahatme has lodged complaint against the doctors but so far no action is taken against the accused.

With the delay in the investigation process, question erupts why there is no development brought in the police investigation to the scam? Why are the accused roaming free even after lodging FIR and why is police yet silent about arresting the accused ? However, question also arises who is protecting the accused from going behind the bars.

FIR is filed against 12 Medical officials of North District CMO office and 5 Medical officials of Unakoti District CMO office including Former CMO Unakoti Dr. Dilip Das, Present CMO Dr Alak Dewan, Dr Subhas Barua, Dr. S.N. Chaudhury, Dr. Debashis Talapatra.

It is to be mentioned here that case is now completely handed over to the police. But the same police at Unakoti district once refused to take any case against the scam, after the Congress Chief Birajit Sinha demanded for it.

According to the sources, the department has already completed the documentation work long back but police is allegedly playing role of silent spectator over the prolonged lingering issue.

Political mind game is yet successful in saving the prime accused involved in the NHM scam worth an amount of Rs 33 crore of money.
