AGARTALA, May 16 (TIWN): In a shocking development an emergency situation has arrived at a refugee camp under North Tripura District on Sunday.
The clashes are pursuing among the Reang refugees and the Bengali locals residing over there.
Reportedly, the matter went worst when during clashes a refugee named Briguram Reang committed suicide on Saturday night, created huge amount of resentment, hatred among the tribals there.
The fumed refugees around then fired atleast 14 houses and 7 houses they damaged fully. Immediately after getting informed huge number of TSRs( around 100) was deployed on the spot and they threw tear-gases of 3 round.
But as the situation remained uncontrolled more 6 rounds of firing was done by TSR Jawans. In total 21 Bengali families with 171 members are under the threat of the refugees. However, the situation is better with the tight security on that place, although tension has gripped the whole area there.
The clashes occurred centering a water-body and fishing activity since May 4. But as the refugee camp’s problems are not recognized as serious issues by the local police stations also, so their fights continued on those places since more than 10 days.
It’s worthy to mention here the refugees, (Reangs) who fled Mizoram in the wake of inter-community violence and are now housed in refugee camps in Tripura, really gifted with a full uncertain future.
Although Tripura Government claims for spending Rs.2 crores on relief work, but the situation at there are unchanged.
The refugee children also across North Tripura are learning a life almost from barbaric society, where no education, no healthy environment is provided to the children for the sake of their future.
