AGARTALA, May 15 (TIWN): In a sudden and unexpected turnaround 3MLAs of Congress joined the Training programme organized by TPCC led by PCC President Birjit Sinha. And this has once again created a storm of suspense among the rebel Congress workers and leaders led by former Leader of Opposition Sudip Roy Barman . Sudip & Co is expected to join Trinamool Congress after the declaration of Assembly poll results of five states namely West Bengal, Assam, Kerala, Puducherry and Tamil Nadu . The results of these five poll bound states will be declared on 19th of May. Just before this the 3MLAs of Congress , by attending the programme organized by Birjit Sinha group , has simply created a considerable amount of doubts among the rebel group of Congress .It is to be mentioned here that a two days long "Leadership Training and Research Programme" was organized by PCC to train the budding leaders of leading the party . This programme is considered to have been organized to give a message to the rebel group showing the strength still retaining with Congress main group. In this programme four MLA's namely PCC President Birjit Sinha , Gopal Roy, Jitendra Sarkar and Dilip Sarkar - were the main orators. What surprises everyone is the presence of Jitendra Sarkar and Dilip Sarkar in this programme.

Only a few weeks before Jitendra Sarkar signed in the ' No Confidence ' letter against the AICC appointed Congress Legislative Party leader Gopal Roy submitted to the Speaker Ramendra Nath along with Sudip Roy Barman , Biswanandhu Sen , Pranajit Singha Roy , Ashish Kumar Saha and Dibachandra Hrangkhal . But Saturday's programme indicated that though Sudip claims to have the support of six MLA's with him , nothing is certain yet . It is very interesting that Jitendra Sarkar signed the No Confidence letter but he didn't hesitate to sit beside Gopal Roy on the stage in the  Leadership Training and Research programme . A PCC member while speaking to TIWN said ," In politics and battle field nothing can be taken for granted ."

Actually even among the Sudip's own group there are some who are afraid of the consequences of "Anti-Defection Law" .  In " Disqualification of Ground of Defection "( Chapter V) of Anti Defection Law it is said ," Provisions have been made with respect to mergers of political parties. No disqualification would be incurred when a legislature party decides to merge with another party and such decision is supported by not less than two-thirds of its members. "  It means that Sudip Roy Barman & Co needs the support of at least 7 MLA's ( Congres has 10 MLA's in the Tripura Assembly) to ensure that their membership as MLA won't be disqualified even if they merge with TMC.

Recently Sudip Roy Barman confidently made a statement ( during his visit to Kolkata) ," I have the support of 7 MLA's in the house and after the merger with another party ( did not say whether it will be TMC or BJP ) we are bound to be recognised as the Opposition Party . " But Saturday's even showed the hollowness of Sudip's pride . A highly placed source in TPCC it is learnt that from West Bengal and AICC sources Birjit Sinha and others came to know that the result of Congress in West Bengal won't be as bad as it appeared initially. The source said that internal report of West Bengal Congress Committee predicts that the party is expected to win around 45 to 50 seats . If such happens that wont be very bad considering the only 90 seats in which Congress is contesting . And after hearing the report Jitendra Sarkar and Dilip Sarkar are now in a dilemma, TPCC source adds.

Moreover , an MLA ( unwilling to reveal his name) told TIWN ," At the present scenario it will be difficult for Dilip Sarkar or Jitendra Sarkar or Ratan Lal Nath to be re-elected from their respective constituencies if they come under the Anti-Defection Law . That's why before taking the final decision these leaders are applying every possible method though Ratan Lal Nath refrained from joining Saturday's programme . "  Till date it is not certain whether rebel group has actually the number '7' which is needed to be ensured before the much hyped merger . However, this new twist in Team Sudip group has gone viral on social media with rebel Congress workers expressing their anger against Jitendra Sarkar and Dilip Sarkar.
