KAMALPUR, May 8 (TIWN): The saga of huge loot and embezzlement once again took the CPI-M party under its grip after 2008. Then a case of embezzlement was revealed regarding the construction of party office. And now, the embezzlement of huge amount unearthed in the accounts of Kamalpur Bus Terminus Development Committee.
After the setting up of the Bus Terminus in 2009, the Committee was formed for overall supervising and monetary accounts’ keeping of the Terminus and related motor labourers.
Then one Ratan Sutradhar was appointed as Manager with a monthly allowance of almost 5, 000 rupees. Former teacher and lawyer cum portfolio holder of District Juvenile Justice Board Ranabijoy Deb was appointed as auditor against a monthly honorium of 1, 000 rupees.
Recently, the Manager Ratan Suthradhar got job at Fire Service department. Then naturally, the committee asked him to produce the accounts as he could no more serve the Committee. But he failed to produce any account. It got revealed that, he failed to produce even the Bank Passbook and he deposit slips.
The amount of embezzlement would be not less than 10, 00, 000 rupees approximately. The amount was the daily deposit by the motor labourers in the form of gate pass and contribution to the welfare program.
At this context, the role of the auditor also came under scanner. Auditor Ranabijoy Deb got the responsibility for his loyalty to the party, no doubt. Further, with this loyalty he already grabbed a post of almost 20, 000 rupees’ monthly honorium at the District Juvenile Justice Board.
He also pocketed a job for his son. Again, he grabbed the monthly 1, 000 rupees honorium as the auditor of the Committee. Then, if he performed his duty perfectly, the embezzlement could not possible.
Now, although the CPI-M party trying their best to suppress all the irregularities, the matter might broke out an interesting turn in near future.
