AGARTALA, May 3 (TIWN): People of the Landlocked state Tripura which is in size 10,492 km² have been suffering a lot due to the tiresome long journeys though its “up—down & broken” roadways which was expensive as well as time killer, with the chances of accidents.

The Union Railway Budget 2016-17 which focused on Tripura with Rs. 1.21 lakh crores, for the  completion of the ongoing projects, has blessed the state with passenger trains.

However, till day due to the worst transport system,  public here never realized that how small state Tripura is in compare to the other states of the Country.

Railway is connecting the whole state now with high speed passenger trains.

People were happy with the Rail Budget as there has been no hike in the passenger fare and increase in quota for women and senior citizens.

Now with the broad-gauge service, people will be able to travel from Northern part to Western part of Tripura a very faster with cheaper price.

Business will be very easy from now onwards and marketing, export-import between subdivisions and Sadar will be a matter of few minutes or hours.

However, chances of road accidents have also been lessened.

The Railway Minister had placed a Rail Budget of Rs 1.21 lakh crores, which was more systematic as it gave more importance to the ongoing projects rather than announcing more new projects.

However, the Agartala-Akhaura rail connection with Bangladesh are ongoing projects. Beside this, Agartala is going to be connected by broad-gauge and in then up to Sabroom from where it will be connected with Chittagong to help connectivity for the Northeast via Tripura."
