AGARTALA, May 2 (TIWN): Joy turned into ecstasy when the BG passenger train chugged into Tripura on a trial run at Dharmanagar for the first time. Adding a history to the golden pages of Tripura, the people of Tripura on Monday witnessed the trial run of the BG train for the first time at Dharmanagar railway station from Silchar. Huge enthusiasm and cheers marked the entry of the BG railhead at Dharmanagar railway station. The much talked and much awaited BG passenger train service has finally roll its wheels on the newly converted BG track from silchar to Dharmanagar and to Agartala on a trial basis from Monday paving its way to usher new era of development in Tripura. It is to be mentioned here that two trains would run from silchar to Agartala in a week from Monday as the track is all set to toll the train. However this trial run would continue for several days and later after checking the status of the train the service would start on regular basis.

However, the BG train is supposed to enter the Agartala railway station on Monday evening.

Tripura witnessed a historical moment Monday when BG (broad gauge) Railway entered for the first time in Tripura. The dream of the broad gauge train in Tripura seems to be not so far. The long wait of northeastern state of Tripura to have direct broad-gauge rail connectivity with rest of India comes true after a long session of wait.

Adding another milestone in the history of Tripura, the land-locked state has finally made its entry in the BG railway map of the country.  

Recently, with the trial run of the train on the newly converted broad-gauge (BG) track of Agartala-Badarpur route upto Agartala railway station has created a milestone in the history of Tripura.

Improving the transport and connectivity in the landlocked Tripura of the northeast region is one of the top most priorities of the government. A lot of focus is being laid to enhance railway connectivity in the region.

Finally the century old and much awaited dream of the people of the landlocked state came true when the first BG train chug into Dharmanagar railway station with joy and enthusiasm from the end of the people.
