Negligence hits Sepahijala Wildlife sanctuary

AGARTALA, May 2 (TIWN): Although the Sepahijala authority has announced about a special treatment for animals during this summer season, but sources said that all these initiatives are very temporary and unreal.

The Wildlife Protection Act, 1972 which was enacted to save the wildlife in the country, is violating everyday here, as the animals there suffering from lack of food, healthy items etc.

Reportedly, the animals at  there--- are deprive of every facilities. The crocodile are left half dead without a single drop of water. Tigers and lions are suffering due to lack of proper sufficient food.

From python to bears all are victims of the negligence of the Sepahijala authorities.

Zoo Director Pallab Chakraborty has announced that the cages are sprinkled with cold water whereas the gunny sacks tied to them are kept wet to act as natural cooler and to reduce heat radiation.

He also said that pools and special water bodies have been created with the enclosure of the water-loving animals like hippopotamus so that they can splash and enjoy in the water.

Changes have been brought in the supplied food of the animals, claimed Zoo Director, while tourists know that how much they are under care.

Sepahijala Wildlife Sanctuary which is located of some 18.53 square kilometres (7.15 sq mi), about 25 kilometres (16 mile) from Agaratla although attracting tourist but the animal rights are violating there, said report.
