DHAMRMANAGAR, May 1 (TIWN): With pomp and gaiety state Tripura has celebrated May Day-2016 on Sunday.
This is a special occasion for CPI-M as this day is dedicated to the working class people. CPI-M claims themselves as Government of working class/ poor people and party works for the development of that particular class.
However, on that occasion, when people including political leaders were enjoying the day as a holiday, TIWN has covered the scenario of Dharmanagar town area, where no respite from poverty---& daily begging and child-labour were available at there.
TIWN photographer has covered the glimpses life of few poor families among them one was Biswajit Nath, and his family whose livelihood is dependent upon bottle selling. With that profession, they anyhow manage to collect one time meal for them.
Biswajit Nath has no BPL card also, and thus his children are too engaged in that same profession. His elder son named Prasenjit Nath daily collects bottles from various dustbins and road corners like his other family members and then they sell each of them and manages 1 time meal for them.
This is the scenario of Tripura’s May Day every year.
Although Govt. claims for having ‘No beggar’, but TIWN also found a woman spends her livelihood by begging to feed her little baby baby.
Poverty is a curse, but instead of taking attempts to reduce poverty, govt. here is cultivating poverty and thus Tripura on the occasion of May day found with full of poor people, beggar and child labours.
