AGARTALA, April 27 (TIWN): When IPFT is waving the fan of violence in the state with demands of separate Twipura land they have again projected themselves stick to their demands after about 150 people have joined IPFT on Wednesday at press club.

With the joining of few folks of people, IPFT is claiming them stronger and raising firm voice in favour of their demands.

It is to be mentioned here that IPFT which is known as a hardliner party and often blamed for its alleged soft stance on extremist movements is clearly trying to woo the tribal society after years of political isolation.

According to the party dignitaries the party is not pushing for any irrelevant or unconstitutional demand and the demand for the separate state is lawful. It is to be mentioned here that party would continue to strive for a separate state with areas of the tribal autonomous district council. According to the party it’s important to protect state’s minority tribals and preserve identify.

Once again IPFT is trying to fan unrest in the State where ‘peace has returned after two decade long insurgency and ethnic turmoil.

The IPFT is acting as political mask of the banned outfit- NLFT.  The Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) came into being in the state under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution in 1987 to protect and safeguard the tribals who form one-third of the state's population.

Al though the reign of terror unleashed by the Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT), backed by the outlawed National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT), has ensured the IPFT's victory in the Tripura Tribal Area Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections, the people of Tripura are yet to get a respite from the terror. NLFT-IPFT members have now started targeting tribal and non-tribal people who voted for the Communist Party of India (Marxist)-led Left Front, said sources.
