Parimal Saha murder case: Arguments completed into the case, final judgement on April 29, charges like attempt to murder slated against 17 accessed

AGARTALA, April 19 (TIWN): Arguments including hearing to the much talked Parimal Saha murder case ended on Tuesday and the final judgement to be declared on April 29.

Following the orders from the Tripura HC which has recently ordered the additional district and session court to wrap up the Parimal Saha murder case by April 30 is keeping pace with the case and the final argument to case from the side of prosecution to defence is completed on Tuesday.

The prosecution and the defence have completed the argument into the case and judgement to the case will be given on April 29.

The hearing was done against 17 alive accused people and charges including attempt to murder and 7 other acts were slated against them.

It is to be mentioned here that senior advocate Milan Mukherjee of Kolkata challenged the First Information Report (FIR) and authenticity of evidence of Matilal Saha. He further highlighted that the charges against the accused persons of the sensational murder incident were wrongly framed and the vital TI parade was not done as per the provisions of law. The defence team further challenged that the prosecution team could not establish that personal security guard of the then MLA Parimal Saha, who was allegedly killed by the assistants at Bishalgarh during Block Advisory Committee election on April 07, 1983, belonged to Tripura Police.

It is to be mentioned here that lower court has agreed to treat the copy of certified post-mortem report of Parimal Saha as evidence into the case.

Earlier as a part of the hearing of the case, the accused were interrogated in the court under section 313.

Former Judge Narayan Chandra Das, Dr.Nitya Ranjan Datta, Dr.Rajat Bhattacharjee, and soma Ghosh have recorded their statement into the sensational Parimal Saha murdercase.

Congress MLA Parimal Saha was brutally killed by ‘unknown’ assailants on the Agartala –Bishalgarh road on April 1, 1983 triggering unrest in the entire Bishalgarh subdivision in the undivided West Tripura district.

Immediately after the incident, police had launched a massive crack down at Bisghalgarh area and arrested 18 persons in connection with the murder. Of the total arrested accused persons, Investigating Officer D. Gautam had submitted charge sheet before the District and Sessions court, West Tripura against 16 potential accused persons.

Two charge sheeted accused persons died in course of the trial process. According to sources, the process of deposition of witnesses was completed long time ago but problem surfaced after death of the IO.

Charilam Congress MLA Parimal Saha was murdered in 1983 under the then Left Front regime of Tripura. With the change of guard in 1988 by the Congress-TUJS alliance, the police charged 26 individuals and put in a charge sheet before the High Court. The case was sent for a trial. Evidences and witnesses were also taken.
