MET department predicts cyclone followed by hailstorm in Tripura in next 24 hours

AGARTALA, April 17 (TIWN): The meteorological department on Sunday has forecast squally wind ranging from 50 kmph over to hit Tripura in next 24 hours due to the hovering depression over, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Jharkhand & Tripura, with heavy to very heavy rainfall and thunder-showers over the area in the next 36 hours.

Heavy incessant rainfall to hit Tripura in next 24 hours followed by heavy hailstorm. The Tripura MET department has sounded a high alert in the state.

Metrological forecast also indicated that heavy rain will continue in isolated part of the state along with heavy blow of wind for the next 24hours.

Speaking to TIWN correspondent, official of metrological department said that there will be heavy rainfall for the next 24 hours. However the rain is expected to be accompanied by thunder storm and lightening.

The sky in Agartala and its vicinity remains generally cloudy, rain may occur in some areas of isolated part of the state.

However, the moderate rainfall which has hit the state has hit bought much of relief from the scorching heat.

On the other hand, this rain will solve few amount of water scarcity. It is to be mention that many interior tribal localities in Tripura are facing acute drinking water crisis. People rely on water hand pumps and local streams installed in few villages.
