DHARMANAGAR, April 17 (TIWN): BG goods train service boosting goods transportation like stones, chips, cement to all kinds of heavy materials. Reportedly, many goods are being imported for FCI Tripura on a trial run basis.
Hopefully, once the goods train service starts in full swing, businesses need not depend on crippled NH-44.
The costly flight fares, the troublesome journies via road-way liely to be replaced by rail service.
Already CRS inspection has been completed at Tripura on various segments and CRS will send their report.
However, it was on January 2, 2016 that broad gauge ballast train arrived successfully in Tripura. Since then the train full of stones arriving to give finishing touches to the rail lines.
However trains are presently bringing food grains(for FCI Dept) and other materials as chips and stones.
The first train came with 3 engines and a total of 53 coaches r, said sources. The stones placed in and around railway tracks are technically called `ballast', and the work is going on in full swing.
The run of the ballast train has really brought cheers to the people of Tripura as the state got a step closer to get BG rail connectivity after decades of delay.
