AGARTALA, April 17 (TIWN): Reacting over the NLFT militants latest surrender and various untoward incidents recently took place in border, Sepahijala SP Pradip De told TIWN that the long unfenced border of around 9 km under Sonamura is still creating daily problems for Police and BSF as porous border being used by smugglers to militants to destabilize law & order situation. “Border fencing work is ongoing , even 3 km fencing work has been completed , but still 8 to 9 km border is left unfenced which is acting a grave threat to the security of the subdivisionâ€, added SP Pradip De. He further mentioned that “since last few months there are no official reports of illegal intrusion, but it cannot be said that the problem is 100% solved yetâ€. “Both BSF and Police are jointly working to solve the problems of illegal intrusionâ€, said SP.He also mentioned that in the fenced border areas also there are many gaps in between which needs to fill up by proper fencing urgently.
“Bangladesh however, in this regard helping Tripura police to catch criminals and many times BGB has caught those Bangladeshis who tried to enter here in Tripura", he said. "Being the neighboring country, Bangladesh is helping Tripura police fully”, he added further.
"Still the illegal intrusion is not 100% stopped", said De.
It’s to be mentioned here that the Sonamura subdivision has become the centre for all ISIS intrusions in state Tripura, which is increasing the terror among the common public here. Reportedly, Sonamura subdivision is the centre for all illegal activities, which has become as a threat for the safety of common mass here.
However, taking the chance of the passive attitude of the state govt., fundamentalist elements are infiltrating state via Sonamura.
Sonamura, Boxnagar however known as the centre for massive ganja plantation and other illegal activities.
Sources informed that Tripura’s Sonamura, Boxnagar, Melaghar and Bishalgarh - mostly sought after hireouts for fundamentalist, millitant elements.
