AGARTALA, April 16 (TIWN): REGA employees in Tripura all set to raise voice against the decision of the central for the curtailment of the funds under MGNREGA in Tripura.

According to the sources the employees would stir voice on April 21. However, stir would be followed by a convention to be held at RS Bhawan.

MGNREGA which is a one of the quintessential source of income for the rural families is hit with terror after central government has slashed down 1, 92, 36000 man days under the MGNREGA scheme for the Financial Year 2016-17.

It is to be mentioned here that Aparajita Sarangi, Joint secretary (MGNREGA) under central ministry of Rural development has nailed Principal Secretary GSG Ayyangar for the mismatch in the work completion rate since its inception and for the current fiscal year 2015-16.

Recently in a letter to Principal Secretary GSG Ayyangar, Aparajita Sarangi, Joint secretary (MGNREGA) under central ministry of Rural development said that the work competition rate under MGNREGA in Tripura since its inception is 83.79 percent and in current financial year it is only 36.4 percent.

It is to be mentioned here that as per the para 10 of scheduled-I of Mahatma Gandhi NREGA says tht while opening works in Public works category it shall ensured that the ongoing  or incomplete works should be completed first.

However, looking the status of the MGNREGA work the central rural ministry has ordered to pay serious attention into the matter district wise and to improve the competition work rate.

Question arise how Tripura achieved the title of providing highest man-day’s despite of being unable  to fulfil the minimal completion  rate.

After a major shock was received from Tripura for publishing vague report under RD Dept. Tripura central slashed the fund for Tripura. However, instead of learning any lesson, the left front party here is crying for the full fund of Rs. 1600/- crores from RD Dept., which Ayyanagar during his visit at Delhi had asked the Central Ministry recently to sanction for Tripura. But Tripura received a master stroke from Central Ministry in case of fund allocation.

More interestingly, central Ministry has announced to pay 10 state’s labour via online technology including Tripura, so that a keen eye can be keep over fund utilization.

This decision has been taken after much complaints receiving from REGA workers for their unpaid wages. Following the notice from the Supreme Court, the Centre  released what it called the largest ever tranche of Rs 12,230 crore to states for implementing the rural employment guarantee scheme.

The money is likely to be used mainly to pay wages to workers who are employed under the scheme. States has claimed that the funds released were not enough.
