State eyeing towards BG passenger service to pave its way on Bengali New Year

AGARTALA, April 12 (TIWN): With just counting days left for the BG passenger train to run on the newly converted BG track in the land of Tripura, likely on the April 14, preparation is going on in peak. Workers are busy in completing the work to meet the dead line so that no problem comes up during the arrival programme. Aiming to complete the preparation on time the Agartala Railway station has been cleaned. In all probability, the BG passenger train will be a gift from Modi Govt to the people of landlocked Tripura ahead of the Bengali New Year. Receiving green signal from the CRS, Passenger train is likely to arrive into the land of Tripura by Bengali New Year. It is to be mentioned here that the North-Eastern frontier railway authorities have informed that it is mandatory to conduct safety inspection along the newly gauge-converted rail route in Tripura as safety is the top most priority.It is to be mentioned here that though the BG conversion work has been completed months ago, but the safety inspection delayed, raising concern among train commuters.

However, aiming to check out the security measures and safety run of the train, Railway safety Commissioner inspected the tracks at Agartala.

It is to be mentioned here that during the preliminary investigation, Railway safety commissioner Sailesh Kumar Pathak expressed displeasure over the construction work of the foot bridge at Agartala railway station.

It is to be mentioned here that NFR authority is willing to start train service with all modern amenities including assurance of on time service and new coaches as per the schedule.

NFR assured that as soon as the train service begins in state the people can easily avail the service without any hurdles. Railroad crews are still finishing work on the tracks, installing new switches and making other final adjustments before the trains start to roll. With an aim to meet the deadline and to complete the construction work on time, workers are continuing with the work in a full-fledged manner.

According to the reports, the history of railway in Tripura began in the year 1964 with the extension of 31 Km long railway line from Kalkalighat to Dharmanagar.

Later, the track was extended to Kumarghat at a distance of 32 Km in the year 1990.

However, by the year 1997 the new broad gauge railway line of 109 kilometres from Kumarghat – Agartala has been sanctioned.

However, in Tripura Metre Gauge has started in the year 2008.
