Airport expansion project: Work of Project Management Consultant likely to complete by the end of April, confirms high official of Airport

AGARTALA, April 12 (TIWN): Work of Project Management Consultant to complete by the end of the month April, confirms high officials of Airport on Monday.Talking to TIWN Correspondent on Monday, high official of Airport said that the expansion work of Agartala Airport is under progress. Mentioning about the present status of the work, he stated that work of the Project Management Consultant is underway. Further he stated that with the completion of the Project Management Consultant, the next tender will be given for the construction work. Speaking about the detail work of the Project Management Consultant, sources mentioned that the consultant is looking up the requirement of materials during the construction work of the Airport Expansion.After the completion of the work of Project Management Consultant, the next tender will be for the agency who will be constructing for Airport expansion. However, the much awaited expansion project includes extension of runway to successfully accommodate wide bodied aircraft and to improve the passenger’s amenities.

According to the sources report, the project of the expansion work is of Rs. 338 crore. However, the work is underway in full swing to complete the work as soon as possible.

It is worthy to be mentioned here that the state government has already handed over required land for facelift work of the Agartala airport.

According to the earlier reports, as a part of the expansion plan, a total of four aero bridge provisions are likely to be there in the new terminal building.

Further, it has been mentioned that the estimate cost for constructing the new terminal building is expected to be around Rs. 250 crore. Besides, in order to beef up the security in the Airport, 87 CCTV cameras have been installed in the airport.

However, altogether 1000 passengers on both departure and arrival at a time is expected to be handled by the bridge.

Besides, four conveyors belt is also expected to be inducted in the new terminal.

According to the reports, the new terminal buildings are expected to be of double in size then the existing one.

Besides, the apron would be four times bigger than the current size. 

However, with the completion of the much awaited dream the people of the state would be highly benefited.
