AGARTALA, April 11 (TIWN) : CPI-M's women wing enacted drama of MGNREGA fund which has been slashed by the Central RD Ministry for the FY (2015-16). On Monday CPI-M's (AIDWA)All India Democratic Women Association sent mass letters to the Central Govt. for fund re-allocation of MGNREGA fund for state Tripura, as sanctioned Rs 12200 crores are proving insufficient for state’s development. However, after the public drama on Monday by Women Association, questions are raising from various quarters that is it a cry for development? or for the cash only ?

Central has already issued notice to Tripura Govt. for generating dismal mandays and under-utilizing the MGNREGA funds fully in the FY 2015-16.

It’s to be mentioned here Manik Sarkar during his recent meeting with all RD Officials and DMs of 8 districts at Pragna Bhwana said that the state govt. will keep the central under pressure for MGNREGA fund. After a major shock was received from Tripura for publishing vague report  of under RD Dept. here, the central had slashed the fund for Tripura this time.

However, instead of learning any lessons, the CPI-M party here is crying for the full allocation of Rs. 1600 crores from RD Dept., which Principal Secreatry GSG Ayyanagar during his visit in Delhi had asked the Central Ministry to sanction for Tripura. But Tripura received a master stroke from Central Ministry in case of fund allocation.

After that CPI-M has started massive protest in Tripura against the central govt.

More interestingly, central Ministry has announced to pay 10 state’s labour via online technology including Tripura, so that a keen eye can be keep over fund utilization.

This decision has been taken after much complaints receiving from REGA workers for their unpaid wages.Following the notice from the Supreme Court, the Centre on Saturday released what it called the largest ever tranche of Rs 12,230 crore to states for implementing the rural employment guarantee scheme. The money is likely to be used mainly to pay wages to workers who are employed under the scheme. States has claimed that the funds released were not enough.

Union Rural Development Minister Birender Singh said in a statement that the fund release would take care of the pending wage liability of the states for the previous financial year (2015-16) and help states run the programme during the new financial year (2016-17) of the Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Guarantee Act.

However, ever disgruntled Manik Sarkar's Govt over all good initiatives of BJP Govt., Tripura CM Manik Sarkar said that the state govt. must have to keep the central under pressure so that the fund may release more.

Although Tripura sought for atleast Rs. 1,600/- crores from central but the central govt. didn’t bother to think about Tripura Govt.’s proposal and no extra facility is hired for Tripura this time. Moreover, in compared to the last year, the central has slashed down 1, 92, 36000 man days under the MGNREGA scheme for the Financial Year 2016-17

However, it’s to be seen how far the demand of Tripura CPI-M is given value by the central Govt.
