AGARTALA, April 1 (TIWN): Sudden change in transport movement from Battala towards Chandrapur and from Battala to GB has given tough time to the common people on Friday morning during the wee hours. Going forward with the first ever fly-over construction in Tripura, the traffic movement from Battala towards GB and Chandrapur is diverted through Battala cremation road from Friday to conduct the drilling work at Battala. Many vehicles including bikes, autos, bus, and rickshaws all stranded for long hours in the road as traffic movement was vigorously disrupted. For the next two years and possibly more the traffic congestion is going to get worse. Once flyover is constructed, vehicles from the Nagerjala bus stand will continue to ply on the same path which is expected to reduced the traffic congestion. The first ever 2-lane flyover in the capital city will lower the traffic jam and it will make a smooth fast track movement of the vehicles.

The main motive of creating the Fly-Over Bridge is to seek solution to hectic traffic jam at Battala. As day by day the population and the number of vehicles are increasing, the problem of traffic is also rising high.

It is to be mentioned here that to alleviate the everyday traffic jam at Battala junction following the construction work of the fly-over, the traffic department has already listed out three different routes which the civilian can use to avoid the daily traffic congestion.

As scores of vehicles clog the stretch between Bordowali to Battala to Motorstand and several other routes, smooth movement of the traffic is highly distracted leading the common man to suffer immensely.

A section of people raised voice against the traffic police officers as to why have they turned a blind eye towards glaring traffic rule violations in the heart of Agartala city. Resentment brewed up among the locals observing that a large number of vehicles parked illegally at the no-parking zone and on the main carriageways hindering the movement of other vehicles.

Vehicles parked on the roadside in the no-parking zone in the congested areas, especially in commercial hubs, has narrowed the space on roads that can be used by motorists and pedestrians.

On the other hand, no action is taken against vehicles parked in no-parking zones in the select places and the offenders go unpunished at quite a few important locations in the city as the traffic police area allegedly not performing their duty for curbing the traffic chaos.
