AGARTALA, March 29 (TIWN): Metrological forecast on Tuesday indicated that heavy rain will continue in isolated part of the state along with heavy blow of wind for the next 24 hours.

Speaking to TIWN correspondents on Tuesday, official of metrological department said that there will be heavy rainfall for the next 24 hours. However the rain is expected to be accompanied by thunder storm and lightening.

The sky in Agartala and its vicinity remains generally cloudy, rain may occur in some areas of isolated part of the state.

However, the moderate rainfall which has hit the state on Monday has hit bought much of relief from the scorching heat.

On the other hand, this rain will solve few amount of water scarcity. It is to be mention that many interior tribal localities in Tripura are facing acute drinking water crisis. People rely on water hand pumps and local streams installed in few villages.

However, due to the flyover work, the roads have become narrow which has lead to traffic jams even on regular days. Besides, the roads from Bordowali to Nagerjala are in a horrible shape.

The road is full of pot holes and water gets pored up in the holes creating problems for the commuters including the pedestrians. When it rains, traffic comes to a complete stand-still.

Normal life was also affected in state capital due to the incessant downpour.

The downpour has lead to the rise in water level in major rivers including Howrah River. Many areas on the banks of the river were submerged in water.

The waterlogged due to the moderate rainfall has exposed the so called state government’s tall claims of cleaned drainage system for the smooth flow of water. The sewerage system of the city was choked and the water was accumulated at various places due to blockage of small drains passing through the city.

This terrible condition of water logging on the roads is mainly due to the improper disposal of garbage which is not properly disposed and enters into drainage systems and clogs the drains. Further, it obstructs the free flow of the water that enters into these drains causing water to back up during rainfall, flooding the surrounding area.
