KAMALPUR, March 28 (TIWN): Human trafficking got considered as the most heinous and the most dangerous of anti-humane crimes. And almost every state and country of the world claimed to be united against such efforts. It might be mentioned here that, the popular cases of human trafficking consists of selling of children for begging on roads, selling of girls in prostitution centers and trafficking of children to the Middle East.

But apart from all those, a silent and more dreadful human trafficking continued to take place in this Dhalai districts and tribal hamlets of Dhalai and Unakoti districts of the state for decades.

And what remained more concerning was that, even after knowing the tragedy of their children the parents refused to file complaint against the brokers. As a result police could do almost nothing in those cases due to the lack of awareness among the parents.

For decades, the trafficking of girls to Haryana for marriage remained to be a popular means of human trafficking. According to the records of police, intelligence branch and the different agencies, more than a hundred girls had been shifted from the Kamalpur sub-division only in last one decade, in the name of marriage with some youths of Haryana. As the gender ratio of Haryana remained to be very poor, so the youths have to search for their brides in different states. And, the girls of this region became popular to them. Now, the report further disclosed that, merely one to two percents of those trafficked girls continued to enjoy a settled and happy family life. They often used to have a trip to their parental house with their hubbies and children. But, the rest of the girls got lost virtually in the black world of sex, crime and bonded laborers.

Now, when the matter came to the ability and activity of police, the scenario became grave enough. In this sub-division, in numerous cases, the police failed to manage the deprived parents to lodge a complaint with the police. And later it got revealed that, the middlemen who used to lull the poor parents with a bright and happy future of their girl, used to give a heavy amount of money to those parents. They used to fancy the story that, in Haryana it remained customary to give dowry to the parents of brides. And so, when they became entitled to get the money from their son-in-law, then why they should deny it. But, when they found their daughter missing somewhere on the way to Haryana, then they could do nothing but to repent and suppress the matter of taking money. And the trafficking brokers used to hover in the sub-division as well as in the district still now. Every year such incidents happened. But, it remained a saga that, neither the police nor the administration could do anything. Further, the administration not adopted any effective measure to spread awareness among the public in this regard.
