AGARTALA, March 28 (TIWN): Opposition leader Sudip Roy Barman on Monday in a press meet at Assembly stated that Chief Minister Manik Sarkar had planned the murder of the then Health Minister Bimal Sinha as the growing popularity of Sinha was posing a threat to the CM’s chair. Addressing a press meet on Monday, opposition leader Sudip Roy Barman further said that the ruling party has intentionally hushed up the publication of Yusuf Commission report for past 16 years only to save the position of the Chief Minister’s chair of Manik Sarkar in Tripura. It is to be mentioned here that the report of the enquiry by Yususf commission, headed by Justice (retd) M.A. Yusuf of the Calcutta High Court, submitted the report in June 2000, but the State Government took 16 years to made it public. Question arises why the report was not made public if it was submitted by the commission 16 years back to the state government. Alleging corruption and changes in the report the opposition Congress demanded a fresh probe in it.Barman further alleged that with the sense to hush up the real truth, the Left Front government has not cooperated with the inquiry commission. The opposition further stated that the State Govt rejected the Congress' demand to probe the assassination by the CBI.

Demanding a fresh inquiry into the former Minister's killing, Barman accompanied by former opposition leader Ratan Lal Nath, State party president Birajit Sinha and other leaders alleged that Sinha was killed as he wanted to be the Chief Minister and Manik Sarkar always wanted to remove future threats to CM's Chair.

In very similiar fashion,Manik Sarkar got rid of former Industry Minister Jiten Chowdhury from all Cabinet posts and packed Jiten out of State as MP so that no threat to CM's chair.

Tripura High Court (HC) instructed the last date to publish the Yusuf commission report on the then State Health Minister Bimal Sinha's murder case by February 29 but the state government once again delayed it by few more months and placed in the third day of assembly session.
