AGARTALA, March 26 (TIWN): The Tripura HC bar association election was held on Friday at the premises of the HC under strict security measurements.

A total of 545 people have cast their vote in to the election.

However, it is to be mentioned here that the counting for the election would be done on the same day evening.

The election is mainly conducted among the three parties, including CPI-M, Congress and BJP.

The Tripura High court bar election for 11 posts held on Saturday from 10 am to 1:30 pm amid tight security.

It is to be mentioned here that Tripura got its bench of the common High Court on 24.01.1972.

Tripura got its permanent bench on May 14, 1992 with the approved strength of three permanent Judges by the Presidential declaration made on the same day.

Besides, it is expected that the counting of the votes will begin from 2pm on March 26.

It is to be mentioned here that on reorganization, by operation of the North-Eastern Areas (Reorganisation) Act, 1971 (Act 81 of 1971) when Tripura became a full-fledged State, the High Court of Assam and Nagaland was abolished in terms of Section 28 of the said Reorganisation Act, 1971 and a common High Court came to be established for the five states of Assam, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Manipur and Tripura and two Union Territories (Union Territories of Mizoram and the Union Territories of Arunachal Pradesh).

Later on, the High Court of Assam and Nagaland have been named as Guwahati High Court which was the High Court for Tripura, Assam, Nagaland, Meghalaya and Manipur as well.
