AGARTALA, March 25 (TIWN) : With an aim to develop North Eastern states of India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi led Central govt. had taken many initiatives and one after one central teams, Ministers have been visiting to take notes of the working development at here. DoNER Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh is scheduled to arrive in Tripura on Saturday and will held a meeting at Press Conference Hall, Civil Secretariat at 11.30 am followed by inauguration of "Journalists Union Press Meet" at Press Club. However, what the Minister will discuss at Press meet is not yet been declared by State Govt.

But it can be said that, after BJP came to power in 2014,  Tripura has been blessed with projects compared to the era of Congress led UPA Govt, which only neglected the NE region. Tripura already got broad-gauge till Agartala and hopefully the remaining NFR work to be completed before the deadline. Recently, Tripura has also been gifted with 10 Gbps internet gateway and now people are in hope to see further developments in the state.

NH-44, the lifeline of Tripura is in the worst condition after State PWD has taken over maintenance, now State started to renovate since 1 year with central’s funding. However, talking to Transport Minister Manik Dey over phone on Friday , he said that although DoNER Minister is coming but there is no schedule to meet the transport dept. officials including Transport Minister.

Before  2 months, at the beginning of January-2016, via a press meet DoNER Minister for central Jitendra Singh said, “Till UPA era, the North Eastern roads were left as orphan-roads as no-one took care of it”.

He also said that under the initiative known as North-East Road Sector Development Scheme (NERSDS) the government will upgrade over 1,000 km of roads and inter-state highways in the region. He added that the National Highway Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. (NHIDCL) will be the project implementing agency for the projects.

According to government sources, once the work on the five roads and highways is completed, the government will identify other roads and highways in the region that need upgradation. Reportedly, this job has been given to NHIDCL and, in fact, we have started to prepare the estimates and the DPR (Detailed Project Report).

However, the meeting may discuss other issues too, including railway,  and other infrastructure.
