AGARTALA, March 22 (TIWN): As a part of the eviction drive, the AMC task force along with police on Tuesday conducted drive at Lake Chowmuhani area and demolished all the illegally constructed houses in the area.
Task Force of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) and Tripura Police jointly staged an eviction drive at Lake Chowmuhani to evict illegally constructed houses on the government land.
With an aim to vacant the government plot of land the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) on Tuesday conducted an eviction drive at Lake Chowmuhani area. More than 30 people have been evacuated from the area and were asked to shift into some other place.
The Agartala Municaipal Corporation today conducted an eviction drive in some areas of the town, which were being encroached upon.
The drive began at Lake Chowmuhani area where extensions of the sheds were evicted by the AMC. The drive was also conducted in several other localities, including Dimsagar and other places.
“We have started the eviction drive to clear encroachments. The drive will continue to clear similar encroachments on public property," added an official of AMC.
Some areas of the town, however, have also been encroached upon by a section of people. In the proper city some traders have encroached on the footpaths.

While, the traders continue to encroach the footpaths along the road from post office chowmuhani to Kaman Chowmuhani, thus compelling the pedestrians to walk on the road thereby putting their lives to risk, but the authorities are still silent over their act.
The shopkeepers and vendors have encroached upon most of the footpaths from Post office chowmuhani to Kaman chowmuhani, which has been creating a lot of problems for the commuters, who are forced to walk in midway of the road.
Almost every day the road witness causalities due to accident in the area particularly as pedestrian are forced to walk on road due to encroached footpaths by the garments store, hotels and fast food stall owners.
