AGARTALA, March 22 (TIWN): Tripura State Social Welfare Board on Tuesday organized one-day long workshop on Significance of the Observance of International Women’s Day at T.B Association hall.
The programme was inaugurated by Chairperson for Tripura Commission for Women Manika Datta Roy in the presence of others.
At the programme, Board Member of Tripura State Social Welfare Board Fulan Bhattacharjee has discussed over the subject atrocities on Women that are being committed throughout the Country with special reference to Tripura, Ways and Means to tackle the problem.
Besides, at the next session Ex-VAB Counsellor, TSSWB Mukti Bhattacharya discussed about women empower is an only weapon to keep women free from all evil practice, if it is not, what sort of ordinance / Act is to be enforced or enacted.
On the hand, prevention of gender biased sex selective elimination has been discussed by Member of Tripura commission for Women Niva Debarma.
At first the International Women’s Day was observed as a popular event after 1977 when the United Nations General Assembly invited member states to proclaim March 8 as the UN Day for women's rights and world peace.
This International Women’s Day, it has been decided that initiatives will be taken to end all form of discrimination against all women and girls everywhere, to eliminate all forms of violence against the women and girls in the State including rape, trafficking, domestic violence and others.
