KAMALPUR, March 19 (TIWN): The 13th Kamalpur Book Fair noticed an annoying decrease in book purchasing by the common people in first three evenings. Though people thronged in the stalls, but they not purchased books but to have a glimpse. Rather, the fast food stalls outside the premise pocketed lucrative profits.
The 13th edition of Kamalpur Book Fair, witnessed an unprecedented decrease in the selling of books. In first three evenings the total sale of books would hardly touch the mark of 2, 00, 000 of rupees in total, as claimed some officials.
But traditionally, Kamalpur Book Fair had marked with a heavy sale of books and the mark used to cross the limit of 3, 00, 000 easily in one single evening. But this year, the significant fall in the transactions had created much dilemma for the organizers. People, although thronged in the book stalls, found keen to spend money in the fast food stalls outside the premise. And in contrast with previous years, the presence of the people also became less.
According to the concerned, as the Board examinations continued, hence the larger portion of students community would not be able to come to the fair. Moreover, at this dead end of the fiscal, people would spend money more cautiously and book purchasing would remain a mere odd expense to them. However, as the H.S. (+ 2) stage examination for the Science stream would conclude today, so more crowd got hoped in the fair.
