AGARTALA, March 17 (TIWN): In a major breakthrough, Revenue Intelligence on Wednesday arrested two accused with gold bars from Melarmath, confirmed Police sources. According to the sources reports, the accused has been identified as Tanmoy Saha and Alek Hussain. However, on Thursday both the accused have been produced before court. It is to be mentioned here that the incident has triggered panic among the locals of the area. Sources reports say as it has not become possible for the Government to fencing all the border area, the miscreants are taking advantage of it. Intrusion of illegal items includes Phensedyl, cough syrup, with an exceedingly high dose of cocaine and other drugs to Bangladesh.Besides, numbers of smugglers are engaged in both the sides of the border in smuggling illegal Phensedyl and liquor. However, it is to be mentioned here that State police often detains vehicles and seize thousands of bottles of Phensedyl consignments and illegal liquors that are legally imported. But, the network is very deep-rooted and widespread.However, despite of wire fencing across the border area Tripura has become the hub for transporting the prohibited goods.
Illegal intrusion of the extremist and miscreants, smuggling of contraband items and cattle’s across Tripura to Bangladesh and vice-versa has become an everyday-issue.
Besides, most of the time it has been seen that the miscreants has been transporting the goods through the Churraibari area.
However, as it has not become possible to provide fencing in all side of the border, kidnapping and thefts, smuggling of cattle, human trafficking, fake currency are quite rampant along the border as there is lack of proper security arrangements in some parts of the bordering areas.
