AGARTALA / UDAIPUR, March 14 (TIWN) : With the arrival of Modi Govt. in power, a ray of hope had been emerged in Northeastern states including Tripura, especially in the matter of Transport-system. Alongwith railway, the roadway also gained a special focus of the central Govt.
However, presently, the roads under maintenance of PWD Dept of Tripura is suffering from broken conditions and their narrowness resulting in many accidents.
However, with the centres’s intervention, National Highway Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), a fully owned company of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Govt of India was formed a corporation for the North eastern region to take up the double lane project work, the work has now got momentum.
The work for 48-km Agartala-Udaipur road of estimated budget of Rs. 462 crores is in full swing.
Works are going on in both the sides of the roadway from Agartala-Udaipur and presently the mud filling work is going. On both the sides there are made huge roads where presently however, leveling is going on (of soil).
It is to be mentioned here that Union minister Nitin Gadkari had laid the foundation of double-laning of National Highway 44 in a 48.36-km stretch between Agartala and Udaipur at Amtali in Agartala on June 30, 2015.
Union Minister instructed the National Highway Development Corporation Ltd to complete the double-laning work of Agartala-Udaipur and Udaipur-Sabroom (73.71 km) NH within two years.
However, hopefully the narrow roads of Tripura are to be larger within 2017 in Tripura.
