AGARTALA, March 4 (TIWN): Agartala BG passenger service can kick off at any moment as it is just waiting for green signal from CRS inspection. It is to be mentioned here that the BG freight train is continuously arriving in the state with goods. However, the sources from the Railway authority said that the track is all set to start BG passengers train but nothing can be done before CRS inspection as safety is top most priority. The source further claimed that there is no obstruction in running the freight train to Agartala railway station as regularly freight train is entering the state.

Goods loaded train reached successfully to Agartala railway station and there were no hurdles while running the train in the newly converted BG track up to Agartala.

He further said that the track is all set to run the BG passenger train from Agartala as soon as possible, but the service cannot start before getting clarification from the CRS team.

With the everyday progress in the conversion work, the common mass of the state is observing a ray of hope for faster communication and transportation.

Days are not so far when after the BG (Broad gauge) conversion work, Agartala will also be connected with by BG track with country’s railway network.

The pace shows that Tripura will soon get connected with the railway map of the country.

The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is working hard to bring Agartala under the country’s Broad Gauge Network by March 2016. With the introduction of the BG facility, travelling would become more easy and reasonable.

Railroad crews are still finishing work on the tracks, installing new switches and making other final adjustments before the trains start to roll. With an aim to meet the deadline and to complete the construction work on time, workers are continuing with the work in a full-fledged manner.

According to the reports, the history of railway in Tripura began in the year 1964 with the extension of 31 Km long railway line from Kalkalighat to Dharmanagar.

Later, the track was extended to Kumarghat at a distance of 32 Km in the year 1990.

However, by the year 1997 the new broad gauge railway line of 109 kilometres from Kumarghat – Agartala has been sanctioned.

However, in Tripura Metre Gauge has started in the year 2008.

If everything falls in right place, the CRS inspection will be done soon and running passenger train depends on the reports of CRS inspection.

If the CRS gives green signal, the track will be ready for introducing BG passenger train service by March itself.
