State facing above one month of LPG backlog, official of Food Dept. talks to TIWN

AGARTALA, March 3 (TIWN): Aiming to meet the huge backlog of LPG cooking gas in the State, Bishalgarh gas bottling plant is refilling is as much as cylinders.

Talking to TIWN correspondents on Wednesday, official of Food Department said that the bottling plant is trying to refill as much as cylinder possible.

Aiming to fulfil the backlog of above one month, the plant is supplying 20 trucks of cylinders in the State. Besides, additional 13 trucks of LPG cylinder are being imported on daily basis from Silchar.

It is to be mentioned here that the plant is expecting to refill atleast 22 trucks a day to meet the backlog as soon as possible.

Stressing over the refilling of the LPG cylinder, official of Food Department mentioned that the refill process of the LPG disrupts after some problem among the labours and technical faults were reported. However, now the situation is under control.

Further, he mentioned that the plant is running in full fledged manner. It is expected that soon the backlog of LPG in the state will be curbed.

Stressing over the irregularities, he also mentioned that last month the irregularities in the supply of LPG cylinder has disrupts the daily life.

Besides, he also mentioned that people has to face problem due to this.

It is to be mentioned here that few days back due to some issue among the workers but from February 17 the bottling has started in full fledged manner.

However, to meet the need of the State’s public of 12 LPG cylinders in a year a boost is required which can be fulfilled after the establishment of the new gas bottling plant.

On the other hand, despite of the introduction of the modified direct benefit transfer scheme for LPG with an aim to curb down the rampant black marketing of cooking gas, black marketers are yet continuing with their illicit crime.

According to the sources reports, despite the consumers book their cylinder months ago yet they receive their subsidised cylinder from the yearly quota after two or three month.

It is to be mentioned here that this kind of situation leads to rampant black marketing. People not getting the LPG cylinder on time opt for cylinders in black.
