Sabroom yet to get connected with NH44 Double Lane

SABROOM, March 3 (TIWN) : State government yet to take initiatives to ensure proper road connectivity till to Sabroom, Belonia, Santirbazar & Sabroom sub-divisions of the state are yet to get connected with national highway map.

 Though the Chief Minister reviewed the progress of different ongoing works for the five newly declared national highways. Based on the demand of state government, the Center recently declared five other main roads of state as national highways. Union Minister of State for Road Transport and HighwaysNitin Gadkari made the announcement in Agartala last year.

The length of Churaibari to Sabroom national highway- 44 via Dharmanagar, Agartala and Sabroom 331.91 km. Conversion of the existing national highway into double lane is in progress in two parts- Amtali to Udaipur Matabari and Matabari to Sabroom.

According to  Principal Secretary of PWD- Lokranjan ,a proposal for allocating sufficient in five other newly announced national highways are- 134-km Manu to Simlung NH-44A, 265-km Kumarghat to Sabroom NH- 208, 52.66-km Kailashahar to Kukital of Assam NH- 208A, 22.90-km Julaibari to Belonia NH-108A and 55-km Agartala to Khowai NH- 108B. The total length of national highway in state has now been increased to 853.81 km.

Already PWD official informed that the making of Detail Project Report (DPR) for the five newly announced national highways is in progress. But PWD is not working either monitoring the issue properly.

As a result these three subdivisions are yet to get linked with the national highways. It is also  a matter of concern that most of the officers are not taking care of Ministers order & instruction either.
