AGARTALA, Feb 29 (TIWN): Education (Youth Affairs and Sports) Department on Monday organized a sports award programme at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan.
The programme was organized in the collaboration of the Tripura Sports Council.
Speaking at the inaugural programme, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar appreciated the initiatives taken by the organization.
Stressing over the award programme, Chief Minister urged for conducting more award programmes as these kinds of programme encourages the youths to participate in various kinds of sports.
While addressing the programme, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar urged the youth to follow the foot prints of Dipa Karmakar and to represent the State in the International level.
During the programme, it has been mentioned that the Education Department was established in the year 1993 in the month of April. Besides, it has been mentioned there are a total of 39 number of establishment under the department, a total of 28 officers and 965 number of physical instructor.
Mentioning about the total number of gallery, the members announced that there are 768 galleries with 45 numbers of Mini Stadium, seven indoor sports hall, two gymnasium hall, one indoor stadium, two modern scientific swimming pool, fourteen pacca swimming platform, one adventure institute at Melagarh and one Artificial rock climbing wall.
Besides, announcing the target for the creation of new sports infrastructure it has been mentioned that with the capacity of 2500 seats an Indoor Gymnasium hall at Agartala is under construction.
Along with this, there are several other buildings which are under construction. It includes four storied indoor multi sports activities at Agartala, construction of badminton hall at Agartala, with the capacity of 300 beds hostel for girl players.
Besides, construction of modern scientific swimming pool with gallery at NSRCC, three District Sports Complex, play ground at RCPE, Panisagar, indoor and many other buildings are underway.
During the programme, Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Sahid Choudhuri and others were also present.
