AGARTALA, Feb 28 (TIWN): On the day of the re-counting, violence was reported from many places after clash was reported between IPFT and CPI-M supporters. North Tripura is hit with the election violence after clash broke out between IPFT and CPI-M after IPFT stated that they were suppose to win all the seats to the election. Security has been beefed up in the state after turmoil was reported from the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) election in the wake of terror threats from banned militant outfit National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT). State police had started standard precautionary measures in urban and rural areas. Deployment of security forces have been made at motor stands, markets and crowded places. A standard alert was sounded across all police stations of the state. All police stations in Tripura were put on maximum alert and BSF was alerted so that no insurgent could cross the 856 kmlong IndoBangla international border in Tripura from their hideout in Bangladesh. There was report of violence between CPM and IPFT workers at a counting hall under the Lefunga development block in northern Agartala.

At least two persons were injured and extra security was deployed to ease tensions.

CPI-M is already leading in ADC areas before election and already occupied many seats without contest. The constituencies where no party had submitted nomination form except CPM are: Kalyanpur, where among 51 seats 15 occupied by CPM.

At  Kamalpur, Shimbukchak under Salema Block, Durga Chowmuhani Block, and West Lambucharra no candidate submitted nomination papers except CPM.

In Belonia also 3 seats are occupied by CPM without any contest  Rupaichari blocks. Due to the inactiveness of the opposition parties CPM is easily occupying the ADC areas and other rural areas.

The Tripura state election commission (SEC) on Saturday announced the results of 1,060 out of 3,695 seats across 528 village committees (VCs) under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (ADC) where polls were held on Wednesday

It is to be mentioned here that as soon as the vote counting had began both the IPFT and CPI-M members got engaged into scuffle in front of the counters. The matters gone worst when in 4 blocks IPFT had occupied many seats and rest was occupied by CPI-M, but according to IPFT they would win all the seats. Violence was mainly reported from Damcharra block. However, at that moment CRPF came into action and managed the situation. Later keeping the situationin mind Election Commissioner declared for re-counting in few polling centres.
