AGARTALA, Feb 28 (TIWN) : Days are not so far when railway stations of landlocked state Tripura will be filled with crowds and business will run in full swing near the stations. Platforms would be filled with railway porters and before the station taxi drivers, auto rickshaws will shout for passengers.

Near the rail stations many shops are newly building, including food stalls and many other shops. When TIWN correspondent visited at Agartala railway station,  the workers were busy to give final touches in the rail station and its platform.

However, already people have started to urn their livelihood at Agartala railway station.  Inside the rail also business runs well with the people who roam inside the train to sell food items.

TIWN met a woman, namely Sabita Banik who said, this rail station has given her a secure livelihood. However everyday, she has to wake up at 4 am morning and makes tea for railway workers and visitors and then she comes at Agartala Railway Station to run her business here.

Earlier she used to work in other people’s home. “This present job has made me more independent than my earlier works”, she said, and also added, “I hope business will progress when the rail will start to arrive everyday here in the station”.

It’s to be mentioned here that during the rail-budget session 2016, at Parliament Rail Minister Suresh Prabhu said, “Rail helps poor people and common men’s problem is always given priority”.

It’s interesting to note here keeping special focus on the railway worker  Prabhu also declared, "Porters play a key role in making our journeys comfortable. We intend providing them with new uniforms and train them in soft skills in line with the evolving image of Indian Railway, adopting modern technology yet traditional in its ethos of treating passengers with respect. We will also explore methods of offering them group insurance facility. Henceforth, we will be happy to call them as Sahayak”.

However people are also waiting for the rail-express to come here and with the locals runs and other trains they can spend their livelihoods.
