Tight security observed for re-polling in two TTAADC villages

AGARTALA, Feb 26 (TIWN): Aiming to assure violence free and to avoid any untoward incidents during the re-polling at the two TTAADC villages on Friday, tight security has been observed in front of the polling stations.

Reportedly, after the Village committee election held on February 24, due to some official issue decision of re-polling has been taken for four seats at two TTAADC villages.

Extra security measures were taken to ensure smooth and peaceful elections. While Police along with army were deployed on each polling station in order to cope up with any untoward situation and to avoid mismanagement.

So far no incidents of mismanagement and violence have been reported from the concern areas and the polling is going on in peaceful manner.

Besides, the political parties and the independent candidates have set up camps far from the polling station.

On the other hand, the BSF were instructed to keep strict vigilance over the Indo-Bangla border to avoid illegal intrusion of goods in the State.

Besides, the BSF were also asked to ensure any kind of untoward incidents during the election tenure.

It is to be mentioned here that on February 24 among 587 village committee, election were held in 528 village committees and among this in two village committee re-polling is going on.

As the left front has already grabbed 59 village committees without contesting election as there were no opposition.

It is to be mentioned here that till 10AM the vote percentage was at 20 percent and by 12PM it went up to 58 percent. These election ballot boxes are being used instead of any electronic voting machines.

A total of 1262 polling stations have been set up. A total of 6, 45,840 voters would exercise their franchise in the elections. Of the total, 3, 26,931 are male whereas the rest 3, 18,909 are female voters.

However, the election has been observed strict vigilance in the area with an aim to ensure chaos free election.

 However, the election concluded with 85 percent vote recorded.

It is to be mentioned here that on February 27, counting of the votes has been scheduled to be conducted.
