KALASHAHAR, Feb 25 (TIWN): Aiming to ensure any kind of intrusion at the border areas of Shilpara under Kailashahar sub-division, the fencing work is almost complete.

Talking to TIWN correspondent on Wednesday, Kailshahar SDM Ajit Sukla Das stated that within few days the fencing work will be completed.

Besides, he also mentioned that the locals are happy and welcoming the fencing work.

Stressing over the fencing work, SDM mentioned that BGB has earlier asked for another pillar for the support of the fence.

However, at present the work is going on in full-fledged manner and is expected to complete very soon.

It is to be mentioned that earlier the fencing work for the 485 metre of border area was stopped on January 9 as the locals did not get the land acquisition letter and therefore they have obstructed the work and therefore the work got delayed.

Now as the notice of land acquisition were already provided to the locals, they have allowed for the work to begin.

However, as there was no fencing the area was massively hit with the smuggling of cows and various other goods which has created problem for the residence.

With the fencing in the border the locals expects to get relief from the prolonged harassment.

However, despite of strict vigilance in the border areas miscreants cut the fence and manage to smuggle cows and other contraband items.

As it has not become possible to provide fencing in all side of the border, kidnapping and thefts, smuggling of cattle, human trafficking, fake currency are quite rampant along the border as there is lack of proper security arrangements in some parts of the bordering areas.

However, the locals stated that with the commencement of the fencing wok they are very happy. Besides, they also mentioned that with the completion of the construction work it is expected to decrease the illicit intrusion of commodities through border areas.
