AGARTALA, Feb 24 (TIWN): The Opposition party including BJP and congress brought allegation of massive vote rigging against the CPI-M party. The opposition brought allegation that massive vote rigging is adopted to win the village committee election. The election to Village committee witnessed yet another round of massive rigging by the ruling CPI-M mobilised "goondas" from different parts of state to adopt vote rigging in the election procedure.Whether by rigging, snatching or scattering votes, or provoking voters, the riggers used a variety of vote-rigging tricks to interfere with voting process and disrupted the smooth conduct of the election in many wards as alleged by the common mass on Wednesday during the poll hours of village committee election under the TTAADC areas. It is alleged that the process of rigging is adopted to disrupt the smooth conduct of the election into Rajnagar Natunmmoni SB School.

Allegedly, someone else has cast votes for some others.  However, question is raised on the role of the presiding officer.

Vote rigging is an illegal interference with the process of an election. The acts of fraud would affect vote counts on election result, whether by increasing the vote share of the favoured candidate, depressing the vote share of the rival candidates.

The presiding officer appointed in the polling station with all the machinery at its command has remained a silent spectator to the chaos being spread by the ruling party. It has even expressed its helplessness in public. It is alleged that voters are threatened not to go to polling stations and are prevented from doing so by the ruling party members.

The poll began peacefully at 8 AM and with the progress of the day the process of the vote cast gained momentum and the vote percentage also went high.

In order to ensure free and fair election huge security is deployed in and around the polling centres. Security has been tightened in all the polling centres to avoid any untoward incident during the poll hours.

The polling began from 8 AM and is scheduled to end  till 4 PM respectively.
