KAMALPUR, Feb 24 (TIWN): One of the premier banks of the sub-division once again came under the scanner of consumer harassment in the case of employment-generation loan schemes here at Kamalpur. Promising field visits and then disbursement of loan, the authority tricked many selected beneficiaries, alleged the beneficiaries. However, the training program for the schemes got started after the bank selected the beneficiaries from the selected ones of the DIC. As a result many beneficiaries left out of availing the opportunity due to the step-motherly attitude of the bank authority.

According to the allegation, like previous years, the DIC selected beneficiaries for different schemes like Swabalamban, Pradhanmantri Swarojgar Yojana, Khadi and Village Industries Board etc.

Then the names were disbursed with schemes to the bank branches as mentioned and preferred by the beneficiaries. United Bank of India, Kamalpur branch also got some names of beneficiaries for providing loans, so that the youths might be able to become self-sufficient by properly utilizing the loan.

The bank authority also assured the beneficiaries that, they would be provided with the loans after proper field visit by the bank staff and verification.

But dozens of beneficiaries were given date after date for visit and fixing up the issue. In the meantime, the bank selected some beneficiaries for providing loans and also sent their approval to the DIC for starting training.

Accordingly, DIC started training of those beneficiaries from yesterday. But the maximum numbers of beneficiaries left unaware about the fact and remained fooled by the bank.

Now, even after repeated pointing out of the matter by the state government and trumpeted assurances of the bank authorities, why the bank did this, remained a matter of question. Further, allegation also raised that; there might be any under-table trick of the field officer for selecting beneficiaries. Now, if the higher authority would look into the matter remained the matter to be seen.
