Dharmanagar Rat-cooked-Day-Meal issue : Minister Bijita Nath visits Anganwadi Centre, one suspended,  Bijita Nath talks to TIWN

AGARTALA, Feb 23 (TIWN) : Children continue to fall sick after consuming poisonous rat-cooked-mid-day-meal at Dharmanagar Anwanwadi centre. But initially no step was taken against the school authority for such a careless act until TIWN had questioned Social Welfare Minister Bijita Nath for this incident. However after 1 day before the ADC VC Election, Minister visited the place and inspected the condition of the Anganwadi centre. Reportedly, the Mid-day-meal supervisor Maya Nath has been suspended. Dept. alleged that the food which was supplied was itself poisonous, whereas against the cook no action has yet been taken. Talking to TIWN correspondent, Nath accepted the negligence of the dept. behind such incidents and said, “We have to inquire why such matters are repeating again and again in the state. This incidents are really unacceptable”.It’s to be mentioned here that just one day before the election, while the govt. dept.s are in full strive to inspect the condition of Anganwadicentre on the other hand no action against the cook and the School authority is taking. Locals are demanding for the suspension of both the School in-charge namely Mamata Debnath & cook Basanti Rani Nath.The Anganwadi Centre, where the cooked rat was served to the students belongs to the ward number 2, North Ganga Nagar, at Dharmanagar subdivision.

 This terrible incident came into limelight when the full rat was found in the palters of a little girl namely Sneha Chanda. Moreover, the rest of the rat body parts were found in other plates.

The Anganwadi Centre, where the cooked rat was served to the students belongs to the ward number 2, North Ganga Nagar, at Dharmanagar subdivision.

It’s worthy to mention here that the incident took place before 9 days. Locals had informed the authority many times to solve the issue. But nobody visited there, but it’s today that 1 day before the election Bijita Nath had visited that place to urn the sympathy of the public.

Moreover, at the beginning, Nath declined to be informed about such incidents. But after 9 days of the incident she thought to take the matter seriously and to take action.
