Road mishap left one seriously injured, accused driver arrested

AGARTALA, Feb 23 (TIWN): In a bizarre incident on Tuesday a 20 year old boy was seriously injured when a goods loaded truck dashed him at MG bazaar and left him seriously injured.

The incident took place on Tuesday morning creating havoc on the spot.

The victim is identified as Rana Das (20) resident of Rabindra Nagar. The sources said that the incident took place while parking the truck and losing control over the brakes the truck driver hit the boy and left him seriously injured at MG bazaar.

However, the accused driver of the truck identified as Babul Das is a resident of Bamutia and was driving the truck bearing number NL01-L-0473.

Police is suspecting that due to reckless driving the truck has hit the bi-cycle and Police is also suspecting that driver was intoxicated and lost control over the brakes.

Road accidents-leading to death and injuries has become a regular stuff. Getting alarm the east Agartala police reached the spot and immediately rushed the injured to the nearby hospital. Police has however detained the vehicles and the accused truck driver is also arrested from the spot.

The sourced also said that as the victim was in critical condition and got him admitted in the AGMC hospital.

However, the victim is undergoing treatment at hospital, but as per the doctors there is no major injuries in his body and will be recover soon. Police is further investigating the case.

It is to be mentioned here; Tripura Traffic Police and Tripura Police Department have been facing a very tough time to prevent the number of road accidents in the state which are allegedly claiming life of several people for last few months. The numbers of road mishaps are alarmingly increased in the state for last few months but the traffic police department is surprisingly playing silent role instead of taking proper initiative over the road accident issue.

However, by the time police reached the spot the driver was caught red handed and Police is further investigating the case.
