AGARTALA, Feb 23 (TIWN) : Campaigning for Tripura ADC Election 2016 ended finally on Monday evening at 5 pm, which was set as the deadline by Election Commission. From the few weeks the state saw its top leaders and Ministers, including the Chief Minister urging votes for their own parties.
About 7,68,404 voters are eligible to decide the fate of the candidates in Wednesday polling covering 57 of the 2634 Village Committee constituencies. The total number of voters of all 2634 constituencies as per finally published Electoral Rolls are :Male : 3,89,292, Female : 3, 79,112 and the Total Number stands for : 7,68,404.
However, on Feb 22, amidst tight security postal ballot for VC Election was completed. That polling was begun at Saturday morning and continued till Sunday evening. Rest of the common people will cast their vote on Feb 24.
Huge security was deployed to conduct smooth and fare election in the state, Ratan Bhowmik Presiding officer at North Tripura’s one poll centre told TIWN on Sunday evening. He also said, CRPF are intensifying joint operation including patrolling along the border and keeping a close vigil on the movements of people along the border, said the source.
