Agartala Book Fair narrowly escaped from a massive fire

AGARTALA, Feb 22 (TIWN): In a bizarre incident, fire breaks out into a food stall in the name of Green Chilli from short-circuit in an induction cooker at the Agartala Book Fair on Monday.

According to the reports of the police sources, sudden fire breaks in to the food stall namely Green Chilli from short-circuit in an induction cooker.

Police sources mentioned that the name of the owner is Biplab Karmakar residing at Jagendra Nagar.

However, there is no report of any major injury or loss but the Agartala Book Fair has narrowly escaped from a massive fire.

It could have been a massive fire if the fire would not have been controlled on time, as the fire was near to a cylinder and if the cylinder would have blasted than there would have been a major loss, said sources.

Besides, it has also mentioned that people from the capital as well as far-flung visited the book fair. Therefore, if there would have been massive fire than it would have been huge chaos at the fair.

It is to be mentioned here that the 34th Agartala Book Fair initiated on February 14. The 12-day long fair is expected to continue till February 25.

It is to be mention that the first Agartala Book Fair held was held in 1981 and since then the scenario of publishing started to change very rapidly. Along with the common people, various schools, colleges, institutes, libraries and academic centers also collected books in bulk from the fair.

The fair was inaugurated by the Chief Minister Manik Sarkar hosting books in around 20 languages, including tribal and regional languages on diverse topics. 

Detailing about the stalls it has been mentioned that a total of 73 stalls are set up from Tripura, Kolkata 36, Guwahati six, New Delhi three and one each from Bangladesh and Kerela.

According to the reports, Along with the Tripura publishers, different publishers of Bangladesh, Delhi, Kolkata and Guwahati are participating in the book fair.
