AGARTALA, Feb 22 (TIWN): Despite of digital era and ebook facility for the book lovers, huge crowd has been observed at the 34th Agartala Book Fair at Umakanta Accadamy.
Though people are facilitated with the ebooks which they can easily reach just a click away but fragrances of the pages of the books and the physical touch could not keep the book lovers away from the book stalls.
As books are indispensable parts of every individual to an extent. Be it fiction, non-fiction, anthology, biography, mystery, romance, satire, books of any genre have adorned the shelves of every book lover, starting from their growing years to adulthood.
It is worthy to mention that despite of having ebook facility people rushes for the hard copy of the books.
The 34th Agartala Book Fair attracted a large number of people who took keen interest in books on different subjects in the English, Bengali languages including a host of translated works of eminent authors.
According to the official reports, on February 20 the books sellers have successfully sold books of worth of around Rs. 20 lakhs.
It is to be mentioned here that books are no longer limited to only knowledge and text books; the market is full of fictional and non-fictional books.
Detailing about the stalls it has been mentioned that a total of 73 stalls has been set up from Tripura, Kolkata 36, Guwahati six, New Delhi three and one each from Bangladesh and Kerela.
Besides, it has mentioned that the fair will begin at 2pm in the after and will continue till 8:30 pm in the evening. Besides, during the holidays the fair will continue till 9 pm in the night.
Thousands of enthusiastic readers of the State and outside the State flocked to the ongoing twelve-day 34th Agartala book fair where not only books displayed, but also provides a platform for an interaction between both readers and writers.
