DHARMANAGAR, Feb 16 (TIWN Exclusive): Once again students of Tripura’s school have become the victims of unhygienic mid-day-meal, when a dead rat found in the plates, served to the infants of an Anganwadi Centre at Dharmanagar. This shocking incident took place at the Anganwadi Centre, Ward number 2, North Ganga Nagar, at Dharmanagar subdivision on Monday. During the morning time when the students were taking meals at the Anganwadi Centre, they were shocked to find the parts of the dead rat in their plates. Among them, the body of the rat was found in a plate (in picture above),and the tails, other body parts were was found in other plates. Many plates were full of rat parts which were consumed by infants.Getting informed about it, locals protested heavily against the school authorities and held meeting among themselves for further actions. Decisions has been taken that. on Tuesday there will be a meeting between the school authorities & the local Panchayat members.The girl on whose plate the rat was found has been identified as Sneha Chanda. Reportedly, the girl’s mother has kept the plate with all evidences in her home (captured in picture).

Such pathetic state of affairs in Tripura's School Education system that authorities starting from District Magistrate to District Education Officers spend most of their time in boot-licking Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and his CPI-M leaders rather than taking care of Central Govt sponsored Mid-Day meal programs at Tripura's interior schools.

Question arises as the meeting and the decision will be taken later, but what about the incident which already left many students ill?

After the incident, students started to vomit, few of them became seriously ill. However, no major illness has yet been reported.

It’s not for the first time that such an incident has taken place. Earlier also such similar incidents had occurred in Tripura and almost all the subdivions as Khowai, Belonia and many other rural places’ students have become victim of Tripura govt.’s mid-day meal.

The Panchayat was set to discuss the matter on Tuesday morning, said sources. But no-one has informed the matter to police, neither to the Education dept.

Total 16 students study in that school and 3 teaching staffs.

The name of the cook is Bashanti Rani Nath. However, the matter will come before the Panchayat  on Tuesday. 

Manik Sarkar hired nationally known corrupt officials like Hyderbad Timer Scandal Scamster IAS officer G.S.G.Ayyangar to lead the State Administration but CM keeping his eyes closed on the serious issues like ramapant corruption involving central schemes like Mid-Day meal programs.
