State will submit proposal to set up B.Ed and DIET College in all districts, Education Minister talks to TIWN

AGARTALA, Feb 6 (TIWN): Education minister Tapan Chakraborty on Friday confirmed that he will raise the issue to set up Bachelor of Education B.Ed and District Institute for Educational Training (DIET) College in all districts in the one day meeting on Teachers Training at Vigyan Bhavan of New Delhi on February 8. He is scheduled to participate in the national level meeting on Teachers Training at Vigyan Bhavan of New Delhi on February 8.It is to be mentioned here that Union HRD Minister has called the meeting to discuss the problem of teachers training all over the country.Concluding the meeting he will return on February 9, added Chakraborty. Talking to TIWN correspondent he also said that the state will submit proposal to set up B.Ed and DIET College in all the districts of the state. He further said that a proposal would be submitted to start B.Ed. and B.T. training at general degree colleges and schools during off time. He further recalled the issue that he gave similar proposal the chairman of NCERT. He said lakhs of teachers remained untrained all over the country and it became a critical problem all over the country.

Union Human Resource and Development Minister Smriti Irani will preside over a meeting of Education Ministers of the Northeast region on February 9.

Tripura Higher Education Minister Tapan Chakraborty said the state would also demand to set up B.Ed and DIET College at all districts.

However, the move has come up just to structure the new national education policy and get the states under its coverage. It is to be mentioned here that centre had earlier sought the states’ response in regard of getting conceptualise the policy.

Smriti Irani is the current Minister of Human Resource Development in the Government of India. Irani represents the state of Gujarat as a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha.

Irani joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2003. She became vice-president of the Maharashtra Youth Wing in 2004.[21] In the 2004 general elections for the 14th Lok Sabha, she contested unsuccessfully against Kapil Sibal from the Chandni Chowk constituency in Delhi. She was nominated as executive member of the central committee of the BJP.
