India's 3rd Internet Gateway : High speed Internet Bandwidth soon,  BSNL DGM talks to TIWN

AGARTALA, Jan 30 (TIWN): It can be now expected that Tripura will get relief from the clutch of poor internet service as the inauguration of the much talked internet bandwidth is just few days away. Although nothing is assured so far that when will the official inaugurations held however, it is expected that the inauguration will be marked in the month of February. The much awaited project of internet bandwidth service will begin its functioning officially once the inaugural ceremony is observed. Tripura is all set to get faster internet connection as the inauguration of the internet Bandwidth is just a few days’ away, said BSNL DGM U.C. Bhowmik. Talking to TIWN correspondent on Wednesday, BSNL DGM U.C. Bhowmik said that on part of BSNL the work is completed and the service can only kick start once it is formally inaugurated. Reluctant to comment anything on the inauguration date, he said that noting is confirmed yet but the inaugural ceremony will be marked in the month of February.

He further said that necessary testing and security checking on the new system are in the process from both the side of Bangladesh as well as India.

However, question of uncertainty still arises if the work is completed why the inaugural process is being delayed.  Despite of the completion of laying the optical fibre from both the end why there is delay in starting the service.

DGM (CFA) U.C. Bhowmik assured that the optical fibre laying work is likely to get completed by January 2016 and accordingly the service will also be developed. Agartala, Tripura's capital city, would be the third international internet gateway in India after Mumbai and Chennai.

Asked about the issue if any hurdles are obstructing the optical fibre laying work, he said that there so far there is no report of hurdles so far and if the free circumstances remain the work will be easily completed in the given deadline, added Bhowmik.

India and Bangladesh signed pact on sharing Internet bandwidth as a result of which the submarine cable providing Net to Bangladesh will travel to Agartala from Cox's Bazar via Brahmanbaria. At present Bangladesh is connected to SEA-ME-WE-4 submarine cable with 200gbps bandwidth, of which it uses only 30gbps.
