AGARTALA, Jan 26 (TIWN): As a part of the 67th Republic Day, Minister for Jail on Tuesday unfurled the National Flag in various major parts of the Capital.

Reportedly, Minister for Jail Manindra Reang unfurled the National Flag and laid wreath at the Gandhi Bedi. Besides, wreath has been laid over the Martyr’s Memorial at Post office Choumuhani and National flag has been hoisted at New Capital Complex.

Similarly, IG Prisons of the Central Jail at Bishalgarh, Police Hospital, BSF Hospital, CRPF Hospital, Narshingarh Hospital has also observed the day.

Director of Social Welfare and Social Education Department has observed the Day at Institute of Visually Handicapped, State Foundation Home at Narshingarh, Destitute Home, Children Home for Girls at Abhoynagar, Nirmala Sishu Bhawan at Indranagar by Municipal Commissioner of AMC and in various other parts of the State the day will be observed.

It is to be mentioned here that the main function of the celebration of the 67th Republic Day has been observed at the Rajpath. French President Francois Hollande is the chief guest at the Republic Day parade.

However, the day has been observed under tight security all across the Nation.

It is to be mentioned here that India declared to be a Sovereign, Democratic and Republic state with the adoption of the Constitution on January 26, 1950.

A salute of 21 guns and the unfurling of the Indian National Flag by Dr. Rajendra Prasad heralded the historic birth of the Indian Republic on that day.
