KAMALPUR, Jan 26 (TIWN): One Day vegetable show organized at Salema on Sunday last. The fair got organized after the initiative of Krishi Viggyan Kendra, Salema to boost up the farmers. The program was inaugurated by Agriculture Minister Aghore Debbarma.
In his inaugural speech Aghore told: “The agriculture and the farmers are having a tough time now throughout the country. The unpredictable weather conditions and lack of any unified agriculture policy intensified the problem more. The agriculture is rapidly declining importance and interest for its decreasing profits.
In this context our state government is trying the utmost to improve the situation. More and more KVKs (Krishi Viggyan Kendras) would be set for the betterment of the farmers. But at the same time the farmers should also use more and more technologies in farming.” Among others, MLA Anjan Das, Director of Agriculture Dr. D.P. Sarkar, Horticulture Director Sharadindu Das, Debraaj Barman of the Salema KVK were present.
In the show, 300 farmers participated in 15 categories. In each category four prizes were distributed among the winners.
